Superabundant: Saltwater taffy making inside a longtime Oregon coast family candy shop

Bruce’s Candy Kitchen has been a family-run business in Cannon Beach since 1963, and over all those years, taffy making has been a constant. These days, the shop has a menu of over three dozen kinds of taffy.
“Taffy is a flavored blob of sugar. If you don’t add enough flavor, I mean, what are we doing here?” says Brian Taylor, the production manager and co-owner of Bruce’s.
No other candy has made sweet memories at the beach like saltwater taffy.
