“Evolve” is the latest production by the Red Door Project, a nonprofit theater group whose aim is “to change racial ecology through the arts.” That mission has special resonance as the months of protests for racial justice continue. The project’s past shows featuring monologues based on the experiences of police officers and Black community members became a new show called “Evolve,” which is now being adapted for the pandemic. Co-creator Kevin Jones says the experience of hearing these real-life stories “challenges our biases and takes this charged, complex conversation to a level that generates compassion and empathy.” On Sept. 15, he’ll present the show to a Zoom audience of law enforcement leaders from around the state. Jones joins us to discuss his experience over the last few months, and what his hopes are for “Evolve” moving forward.
