One of the biggest and most well-known crusades to preserve old growth forests in Oregon was the battle to preserve Opal Creek Wilderness. One of the people who wanted to preserve that wilderness was George Atiyeh. Atiyeh died three weeks ago in the Beachie Creek Fire. We’ll listen back to a conversation that we recorded in 2016 with George Atiyeh in the home he shared with his wife, Hillary, outside of Opal Creek Wilderness.
