Portland-based writer Vanessa Veselka is out with a new novel. “The Great Offshore Grounds” follows the misadventures of two half-sisters, their adopted brother, and the mother who raised them all. It’s two parts family tragicomedy and one part critique of capitalism. It was long-listed for a 2020 National Book Award.
