Benny Sings — “Here it Comes”

Tim van Berkestijn, known by the stage name Benny Sings, is a Dutch pop artist whose mix of soulful vocals and upbeat rhythms has gained attention around the world. His newest single, “Here it Comes,” is a melodious jaunt through a pleasantly simplistic narration. “The lyrics are about me as a young boy, living on the streets in Dordrecht [a city in the Netherlands] with my skate crew, and feeling life presenting itself, and feeling excited about it,” Benny Sings said recently of the song. “A time full of hope and bravado. My dad used to call us ‘Little Giants’.”

St. Vincent — “Pay Your Way in Pain”

“Pay Your Way In Pain” is the first single from musician Annie Clark’s newest album, “Daddy’s Home,” created with assistance from producer and writer Jack Antonoff. I was in Electric Lady Studios in New York and I wanted to do this sleazy, grimy record and Jack was fully on board,” Clark said of working with Antonoff. “Pay Your Way in Pain” certainly achieves that sought-after funky sound of the ’70s.

Leon Bridges & Keite Young — “Like a Ship”

As part of Black History Month and the Truth To Power Project, Leon Bridges and fellow Fort Worth musician Keite Young recently debuted a cover of “Like A Ship” on TikTok. This song was originally recorded by Pastor T.L. Barrett and the “Youth for Christ Choir” in 1971. Bridges and Young have successfully retained the soul of the track embracing a soaring backing chorus, yet it’s the intangible and recognizable beauty in Bridges’ voice that truly reinvents the song for today’s audience.
