A sample produced at Interstate Meat Distributors in Clackamas last month tested positive for the bacteria.

The recall includes ground beef sold at Kroger, WinCo, Wal-Mart and Albertson’s stores in Oregon, Washington and five other Western states.

The products impacted were all sold in 1- or 3-pound packages and all have a “use or freeze by” date of January 11, 2021.

Anyone who purchased these products is asked to throw them away or return them to the store for reimbursement. E. coli is potentially deadly, but generally causes dehydration and gastrointestinal problems for up to a week.
