Black Thought and Danger Mouse - “No Gold Teeth”

THANKS TO OUR SPONSOR:

Rapper Black Thought (lead emcee of The Roots) and producer Danger Mouse (Gnarls Barkley, Broken Bells) collaborated on the long-anticipated album “Cheat Codes” which is set to finally be released Aug. 12. The lead single “No Gold Teeth” is a classic sounding intersection of the two well-known musicians’ styles and reminiscent of hip-hop luminaries like Tha Alkaholiks and Cypress Hill. “It’s a record for people who got into hip hop and who evolved at the same period of time that we did,” says 50-year-old Black Thought.

Kikagaku Moyo - “Yayoi, Iyayoi”

Kikagaku Moyo is a psych-rock band from Tokyo founded in the summer of 2012 whose newest (and final) album “Kumoyo Island” features this stunning seven-minute-long track. “Yayoi, Iyayoi” is a kaleidoscopic journey through different styles and sounds all held together by beautiful precision. The vocals in the song are sung in Japanese, which only adds to an already dreamy experience for listeners unable to understand the poetic lyrics.

Sir Chloe - “Company”

Sir Chloe was founded by Dana Foote during her senior year at Bennington College in southern Vermont. The band’s latest single, “Company,” mines all the garage rock glory of previous generations with grit, attitude and confidence carrying it forward. It’s “a song to flex your muscles to,” Foote explains. The young band kicked off their first headlining North American Tour in May including a sold out show at Portland’s Polaris Hall.
