Today, the U.S. Supreme Court hears a case out of Texas.
That state passed new regulations on clinics that provide abortions. The clinics will have to meet tough new equipment and construction standards, among other things. A group that runs four clinics in the state has sued.
The basis for the Texas law is the idea that women should get an extra level of protection. That’s a legal concept that has some basis in an Oregon case from over a hundred years ago.
