From 1996′s “Big Night” to last year’s “Always Be My Maybe,” films about food are perennially popular. Episode 79 of “The Four Top” explores the greatest food movies ever made.

In addition, we discuss the device of “food as spectacle” in historical fiction. And finally, our panelists share their favorite fictional dishes and meals. Whether it’s Hayao Miyazaki’s “Spirited Away” or Peter Greenaway’s “The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover,” you’ll come away from this episode with a long list of recommendations for your viewing queue and bedside table.

Meet our panelists: Nikita Richardson is a food journalist for New York Magazine, The Strategist and Grub Street. Crystal King is a novelist specializing in historical fiction about prominent chefs. And Andrew Rea is the chef, filmmaker and star of the popular YouTube series “Binging with Babish.”

This episode was recorded remotely in locations across the United States. Stay safe out there.
