Toro y Moi — “Postman”

The multi-talented artist Chaz Bear is releasing his seventh studio album under the name Toro y Moi later this year – “Mahal” is due out in April. With the release of the single “Postman,” he gave early notice that we’re in for something truly special. The track is a joyous ride colored by a funky bass line, emotive screeches and Bear’s laid back vocal delivery.

Moonchild feat. Rapsody — “Love I Need”

Moonchild is an alternative R&B trio based in Los Angeles featuring Amber Navran, Andris Mattson and Max Bryk. The group’s latest single, “Love I Need,” is a tasty sample of their upcoming album “Starfruit.” This chilled-out jam, which has the naturalistic feel of the classic neo-soul of the 90′s, also includes a dose of banging bars from Grammy Award-nominated hip-hop artist Rapsody. “Rapsody took the song to another level. My favorite moment happens halfway through her incredible verse, where the band breaks on beat one and come back in with some hits that match her line,” Mattson said.

Fontaines D.C. — “Jackie Down the Line”

Irish post-punk band Fontaines D.C. are set to release their third album, “Skinty Fia,” on April 22. The album features the single “Jackie Down the Line” which pairs the band’s dark lyrical content with a surprisingly subdued sound. Dark bass guitar riffs and crashing drums work in perfect synergy with the impending doom eluded to in the vocals which are delivered with a sinister elegance by lead singer Grian Chatten.
