On Friday, May 12th, "Think Out Loud"will participate in a unique collaboration with KQED Public Radio, San Francisco’s NPR station. We’ll be on the air live with their daily talk show, "Forum," from 10-11 a.m., in a program we’re calling “Swap Talk.”
In the wake of the 2016 presidential election, we heard from people who expressed concerns that they were living in a “filter bubble” and were craving a way to bridge the widening political divide.
"Swap Talk" is a chance for Oregon public radio listeners to talk to people in the Bay Area about how the new federal administration is impacting their world.
Both California and Oregon have been solidly blue in Presidential elections, and Democrats control the legislature in each state as well as the governor's office.
But both states also have large rural areas dominated by Republican voters who often feel left out and ignored by urban voters.
Oregon has long been a sanctuary state, and the California Senate recently passed a bill which would designate that state a sanctuary as well. We'll explore some of the commonalities and differences between both states.
