In March of 2014, a University of Oregon student alleged she was raped by three members of the college's basketball team. The Lane county district attorney declined to press charges, but the three players were suspended for four years. The student, who has not been named in public documents or the media, filed a lawsuit against UO, and the university counter-sued to recover legal costs, but ultimately dropped its suit.

Now UO has settled the lawsuit, agreeing to pay $800,000, four years of tuition, housing and fees, and make a policy change to require transfer students to disclose disciplinary records. (One of the student's alleged rapists was a transfer student who had been accused of sexual assault at his previous institution.)
